Tip on fighting back:
This kind of mail bothers me a lot. It is an advertiser that pays to have their ad placed into every mailbox on a route.
It comes to your home addressed as "resident" or "postal customer."

What I do with this mail is save it up for a little while, then dump it back into a post office mailbox when I get enough of it. I hope that if this happens enough, the post office will allow people to opt to NOT get any mail of this type.

Note: make sure that the mail is NOT addressed to you. There is no recourse that the post office could have on you, but why give them any info?
