Other Notes: Welcome to Paris, Afghanistan! Seriously, eating at Le Bistro is just like stepping into any Parisian café for a great meal (with the only exception being the large quantities of Afghani rugs available for sale. Some of them are antiques and some are new.)

The security here is excellent. Besides the sally port with armed guards, they also search everyone (I had to leave my multi-tool in a personal lock box.) Even better, no cars can drive up in front of the place. This is much more secure than most places.

Once in, there are a few vendors selling items to help Afghan locals. All locally made items and each will tell you where the item came from, and who will benefit from the sale. From hand painted eggs from orphan kids, to well made sock/slippers combos, it’s all there.

The food was excellent. I’m not sure, but it seems that Le Bistro must bake all its own breads. The table was immediately stocked with an excellent selection of breads, rolls, and other baked goods.

The food is served with the presentation to match even the finest French restaurants. It tasted like it was from a gourmet chief as well.

There are a few private rooms to help segregate larger parties from the rest of the diners.

One additional note, Le Bistro is one of the few restaurants that fully allow local Afghanis to eat at as well. Many restaurants refuse to serve locals. It is reminiscent of the 50s/60s race segregation in the South. This place welcomes all.

The only two negatives I have are that the bathrooms are a little “rough” for a place of this caliber. The other ‘minus’ is that it is a little pricy. But I don’t mind paying for quality once and a while.

If you want a GREAT meal, or if you have a larger party, Le Bistro can deliver!
