Other Notes:
OK, I know that people may say that this doesn’t count as a Kabul area restaurant and they may be right. However, after personally running the largest DFAC in theater (Iraq AND Afghanistan) last year, I have some personal insight. My DFAC was the ONLY 24 hour DFAC and served about 12,000 meals daily (about 3.6 million meals during my time there in two separate locations.)

So, I bring quite a bit of insight to a DFAC operation.

The first thing I noticed is how small the DFAC is. This isn’t a reflection of the operation, quite contrary; the DFAC is able to use the space incredibly well.

The food was very good and the selection was liberal as the space allowed. As always, there were plenty of healthy food choices along side of the unhealthy ones.

For improvement, this DFAC should implement the Army’s “Go Green” program to help Soldiers make the best choices for food.

Of course, the Army does have the monopoly on the best deserts this side of the Persian Gulf/Arabic Sea, ICE CREAM!!! This is the only place in Kabul I found to serve the really good stuff!

No Picture of Military DFAC for security reasons
