Other Notes: The Herat Restaurant is truly a “local only” establishment. There is no security, and it is most likely NOT on any approved lists.
With that said, they will allow Expats and will even bring them into another room. The food is plentiful and at excellent prices. The food is cooked on the BBQ grill on the sidewalk in front of the restaurant.
The price is very low as it is mostly for locals. If you can go, the Heret Restaurant is definitely worth a few visits. If you are so inclined, you can even sit on the big, open cushions with the other locals and eat off a central big plate with your hands. It’s quite an experience.
