Other Notes: Namaste was quite a serendipitous find. We wanted a Mexican restaurant, but found out that the one we planned on going to was no longer open. By chance, I found this restaurant in a list and I hadn’t seen it anywhere else before.

So we gave it a try. For starters, the negatives of this place are a minimum. The security is lax and not 100% complete. But it’s not much to worry about. There are restaurants here with much worst security.

In décor is pretty sparse, and it is DARK in there. So dark that they had to bring us a table lamp so we could read the menu. Then they replaced that with a candle that helped a bit. Note my pictures here aren’t as good as others I have taken because of the lighting.

The final negative is the music. When we got there, they were playing modern hip-hop which was really out of place. After a little bit, they put a Bryan Adam’s CD in and that was fine, but it does take a little away from the dining experience.

Besides that, the prices here are very cheap for Kabul. The food was very good and there is quite a selection. Not only are there the traditional Indian dishes, but there were lots of new ones I never heard of.

The food came out quickly and was very good. Note, this food is pretty true to its heritage and it is NOT ‘Americanize’ Indian food. So don’t go expecting what you get in NYC or other US Indian restaurants.

While waiting for the meal, one of the owners (an Asian woman) asked us if we wanted dumplings. So we said yes. It was weird to get a side of Chinese Dumplings with our Indian meal, but they were very good as well.

Namaste has personalized plates, which is really classy for Kabul.

Overall, this place is a great find and plan to visit it many more times! (Oh yeah, they deliver for free.)
