Other Notes: The main DFAC in Camp Phoenix is more reminiscent of what DFACs on large bases should look like. It also helped me appreciate the fact that I inherited the best DFAC in theater during my Iraq deployment. (Again, I’m better able to critic a DFAC after being an OIC for the one in Bucca.)

First off, the wash station was large enough and check in was very easy.
The food lines were short and not a lot of choices, but it was easy to get a healthy meal (note, they still don’t have “Go Green” here.)

The seating area is large and clean. Plenty of room for all. Camp Phoenix has such a mix of troops that you can sit anywhere you want to practice you language skills!

The food was on par with most DFACs. The “extras” were scattered throughout the seating area. Of course, I found the Ice Cream! The Army gets the BEST ice cream there is!

Over all, it is a DFAC and the soldiers at Camp Phoenix aren’t suffering!
