Other Notes: Anaar restaurant was the last restaurant I got to review. There was one other, but it was destroyed in an attack the day I planned to visit it.

Anaar has security that meets all standards and is very “unassuming” from the outside. Once you get past the sally port, the restaurant’s character is revealed. Made up of smaller rooms, Anaar promises a cozy dinning experience for all. The bar located in the main downstairs dining room has a very ambitious menu, but like all things in Kabul, most items aren’t available.

Anaar’s food menu is a little hard to understand, but don’t worry, you can’t pick a bad meal. The food I ordered (I ended up ordering two entrees because it was so good) was amazing. It was like no food I ever had. The quality of the food puts Anaar at the top of the list for Indian and Thai food in Kabul, and among the best of the restaurants in Kabul.

The pictures here don’t do it justice (I am still having problems photographing in low light conditions without a tripod.) There is an enclosed patio area for additional dining during the nicer months. Upstairs is a more traditional style of eating area.

The owner was one of the friendliest of all that I have met so far. He was polite and very interested in showing off his restaurant (and he should be proud of it!) He even gave us a little tour of the premises.

In the end, if you want to try some food that will forever change the way you think of Indian food, Anaar is the place to do it!
