Other Notes: The Golden Key Sea Food Restaurant was very unimpressive from the start. The security is adequate at best. But once you are inside, it’s a bit of a maze to get to the restaurant and it isn’t labeled well. Once inside, you get the normal “Chinese Restaurant Smell.” The place is decorated in the traditional Chinese style with plenty of emphasis on proper Feng Shui.

The menu seems impressive, until you order something to find they don’t have it. But even ordering something they do have doesn’t mean it will make its way to the table. The staff is friendly, but I think the Chinese->Afghani->English translations impair the order taking process. Don’t get me wrong. The employee’s are versed in at least 3 languages and that is commendable.

There is a neat little item on the table that you never see near a restaurant table (but I’ve always believed it should be a standard item.) The “bell hop bell,” the type that you would see at a hotel lobby. But considering we were the only people in the place, we never needed it.

I order a crab/corn soup to start. It had crab, but was devoid of corn. It was served with enough pepper to choke a bull, which was a shame since it was good otherwise. For my main course I ordered the Oyster Sauce Beef. Again it was a good dish if you can get past the fact that it was drowned in soy sauce. This place as a good chief, but someone needs to limit his condiment budget!

The bathroom was useable, but not very clean.

The fish tank was nice and they have a private room for large gatherings.

Overall, if you want Chinese food, it wasn’t bad. I don’t think I’ll be going back anytime soon however.
