Hey Buddy you got the time?
Tuesday 20th April, 2010Well, eleven more kids in Afghanistan can now answer “Yes” to that question!
Thanks to my parents, who bought and sent over 11 watches for the local kids, I was able to hand them out to the local children today.
Of course, I didn’t just hand them over to the kids. First I made them do some push-ups. That was more of like trying to herd cats, but a bunch of them were able to figure it out and wring out a few.
Then came the time to hand them out to each kid. I tried to make it clear that every kid was getting one and they didn’t need to trample each other, but I guess something was lost in the translation.
Here are the kids with the watches, giving a big “TASHA KERR” (“Thank you” in Dari) to my parents. But it’s also a thank you to all the people that have sent stuff over here for either the girls at the Sola school (click here for more information on that --> change-a-‘family-tree’), candies or other goodies. In fact, I just got 2 more boxes from my buddy; well let’s just call him “He whose bike always breaks down!” (I don’t think I been on a ride with him were we weren’t working on the side of the road trying to get his bike going again!) Also, a dear friend of the family sent a mini laptop computer for the SOLA dorm. (Thanks Mare!)
Even better, I got a large box yesterday and this is what was inside!!! (Thanks Lil’ Sis!) And yes, I did keep the one in there that was CLEARLY for me. 8>)
So, if you want to send stuff for the kids, feel free to. These guys really appreciate even the smallest gifts!
