Merry Christmas Inch!

Mike and I hope you've enjoyed a nice holiday there. We did here.

Speaking of dogs, I'm sorry to report that our girl Lucy was diagnosed with cancer about 3 weeks ago. In fact the doctors at the time didn't think she'd make it past a few days to that weekend, and even suggested considering putting her down. This came as a complete shock to us. She recently turned 10.

Mike and I just didn't feel it was time yet to make that decision, so we brought her home and have been caring for her. She's had some ups and downs, but aside from some mildly apparent discomfort from time to time, she's also had several good days and her appetite is still intact. She has an appointment with a different vet on Saturday to get a "second opinion."

We hope and pray for a miracle, at least to the point where she can still be with us and happy for the time when you return home to the U.S. We know the odds are against it, but stranger things have happened. We also know too well that you've lost more than one dear companion yourself in the past few years, and how hard that is to go through, even though it's an unavoidable part of life.

Anyway, I didn't mean to greet you with "bad news" on this Christmas night, but thought you should know, and also really wanted to wish you well there. Take care!

-Bob

Did I ever tell you that after spaning an ankle, I then had to "walk a mile" (actually 1/2 mile) to ride a camel for 2 days. And they can make a good shaded soft resting place during siesta.

Take care of yourself and get back here safe.

Wally (Schulwitz)
